We won a Banky!
These awards are handed out annually by the Institute for Extraordinary Banking, a Florida-based group that advocates for America’s community banks. Like the Emmys or Grammys, there’s a fancy ceremony with plaques, champagne and presenters dressed in high fashion.
It was inspiring to hear about all the good work being done by community banks across the country and First Bank Texas chairman, Zan Prince, was honored to accept our award for corporate philanthropy - officially, the BanksGiving Banky – from Roxanne Emerich, founder and CEO of the Institute for Extraordinary Banking.
But at First Bank Texas, we know that the real “winners” were elsewhere that evening. They work far from the glitz and glitter for North Texas organizations that lift families out of poverty, help women battle breast cancer, provide life-changing therapy services and do countless other good deeds on a daily basis.
These are the type of groups that First Bank Texas assists with contributions of over $1 million a year from our Community Partners initiative and countless hours of volunteer work by our kind-hearted employees. And while we take pride in receiving national recognition, we’re far more interested in knowing that we’re filling needs in our local communities.
“If we need anything, we call. And First Bank Texas is there for us. They’re a compassionate organization throughout,” says our friends at Careity, which provides breast cancer diagnosis and treatment services.
And this from the leadership at Grace House Ministries: “The relationship with First Bank Texas has been so important to us. We are thrilled to be working together in a lot of different ways to help families not only work their way through crises, but to achieve self-sufficiency.”
Our philanthropic philosophy is simple and deeply ingrained in our culture. We believe in giving people a hand up, not a handout. We seek to be good stewards of all that God has entrusted to us and seek to honor Him in everything we do.
We strive to provide peace of mind in times of uncertainty and help communities grow in times of prosperity. And we’re committed to making a tangible difference in people’s lives through investment in local churches, charities, schools and businesses through our willingness to serve.
Going forward, we’re as motivated as ever to provide much-needed resources for worthy organizations. Not because there may be an award waiting for us, but because so many of our North Texas friends and neighbors are counting on us.
